writing for the web

Here are a few suggestions for making good, easily readable web-pages:

Separate Paragraphs with Line Breaks
Always break up long paragraphs with a clean line break. People tend to scan web pages rather than read them like a printed page. Short paragraphs (with a space between each one) tend to be read by visitors far more easily than long blocks of unbroken text.

Keep Sentences Short and Concise
Similarly, keep sentences short and concise where possible. This helps your readers absorb and retain your information better.

Use Sub-Titles and Highlight Keywords
Use bold sub-titles to break up long pages. Again, this helps people scan through your pages to find the information they're looking for. Similarly you can use bold to highlight important key words to catch the attention of a visitor scanning your pages looking for certain information.

Use Images
If you have a suitable small image that you can use to put on your page then do so. Relevant images make web pages more pleasant to read, and research has shown that the use of images helps visitors retain more of the information that they read on your site.  You can also use royalty-free stock phtoography on your site from websites such as stock.xchang.
